Verlene Hendricks

Visitation 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, June 4, 2017 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 5, 2017 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Interment at South Park Cemetery. Officating will be her Grandson Wade Blevins.

Verlene Hendricks was born in Abilene, Texas on May 23, 1927. She passed away Thursday May 25, 2017. Verlene was 90 years and 2 days old. Her parents were Van and Vincie Elam. She married Ira G. (Jack) Hendricks on July 12, 1941.

She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist since she was nine years old. She was a member of the Iris Society, a Charter member of the Pecos Valley Quilters. She received annual awards during her twenty-five years of service and safe driving for RISD. She drove many years for Bennett Transportation, as a Drive Away Driver for TMC seeing the contiguous U.S.

She is survived by three children: Laretha (Chuck) Rodery of Roswell, NM; Iris (Jim) Blevins of Clovis, NM; and Derrick (Kimberly) Hendricks of Artesia, NM; eleven grandchildren: Bryan (Bridget) Blevins, Shannon (Randy) Pettigrew, Reese (Deana) Blevins, Galyn (Johnny) Salinas, Julienne Rodery, Wendy Rodery, Wade (Crystina) Blevins, Kerri Hendricks, Lauri (Scott) Gardner, Jason (Melinda) Hendricks, Jodi (Fraser) Inouye. She had twenty-seven great-grandchildren and seven and three quarters great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters: Verla Caster and Vaneesa Elam, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of sixty-three years, and an infant daughter, Darla Jean.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Reese Blevins, Wade Blevins, Jason Hendricks; as well as great-grandsons: Rustin Blevins, Joshua Hendricks, and Ethan Gardner. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
