Velma Langley

LANGLEY,VELMA - Velma Lorene Walters Langley passed from this world on Thursday April 4, 2019.

Velma was born in Wapanucka, OK, March 29, 1921. She had four brothers, and three sisters, who preceded her in death.

She came to New Mexico in a wagon to Artesia, NM when she was five years old. She lived in California briefly as an adult and had a son, Walter Wayne Pierce who is a retired stunt pilot. He has four children; Ula Virginia Pierce (Ginger), Frank Pierce deceased, Richard Allen Garland (Wife Tracey), Shawn Dell Pierce (Husband Ron) who live in Texas.

Velma married Luther Hildred (Hil) Langley, on March 8, 1948, and became a resident of Roswell, NM. Hil preceded her in death in 2002.

Her daughter Linda Valentine and husband Jack live in Lincoln, NM. Linda has two grown children; Kendra Dawnette West Hankins and Tyson Hil West of Albuquerque.

Velma has 12 great grandchildren, and numerous great great-grandchildren. Velma has been a resident at Avamere on Kentucky and Pennsylvania for 6 years. The loving care she and her family received from the staff and care givers was unending. Their patience and kindness did not go unnoticed.

She had numerous friends who visited and mailed cards, which always made her day. Thank you for loving her smile and cute personality.
