Thomas Carpenter

A funeral service for Thomas J. Carpenter will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 17, 2021 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at General Douglas McBride Veteran Cemetery. Thomas passed away Friday, June 11, 2021.

Toms was born May 7, 1922 to Archie and Alice Hart Carpenter in Peninsula, OH.

Tom is survived by his wife of 75 years, Faye Carpenter; his children, Richard L. Carpenter of Waco, TX; Dan Carpenter (Kris) of Odessa, TX; Dianne C. Williams of Roswell, NM; Kay Srader (Dean) of Roswell, NM; and grandchildren, Sherry Ellis, David Carpenter, Jonathan Carpenter, Heather Golden, Melissa Steen, Justin Noles, Lindsey Irish, Hannah Watson and 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tom enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942. He was in the 373 Fighter Group, 410th Squadron flying a P47 in tactical ground support and medium bomber escort over Germany. He was a Flight Instructor for the Air Force at Hondo Air Base, Texas. Tom became an air traffic controller for the FAA in 1958 and retired in 1978.
