Stella Smyzenski

SMYZENSKI, STELLA THERESA- Stella Theresa Smyzenski, age 94, of Roswell, NM passed away, Saturday, December 22, 2018 in Roswell, NM.

A rosary for Stella will be celebrated at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church followed by Mass at 2:00 PM. Burial will take place at South Park Cemetery after mass celebration.
Stella was born March 14, 1924 to Walter Samselski and Josephine Paczak Samselski in Nanticoke, PA. Stella attended St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Passaic, NJ graduating February 1948 as a registered nurse. She moved to Roswell in 1955 when her husband was stationed at Walker Air Force Base. Stella worked many years at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center as a Registered Nurse on the maternity floor and took care of many babies over the years a job she truly loved.
Stella was a devoted Catholic and active member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society, and Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Josephine; her sister and 4 brothers; her husband, Emil S. Smyzenski and daughter in law Debra Lattimore Smyzenski.

Stella is survived by: daughter, Patricia "Trish" Janders and husband Dave of Whitehall, PA; son, Robert Smyzenski and wife, Sheree of Roswell, NM; granddaughter, Josephine Janders of Mesa, AZ; granddaughter, Misti Wilson and fiancé Scott Schumpert of Clovis, NM; grandson, Brandon Lattimore and wife Jamie of Los Alamos, NM; and 6 great grandchildren.

Memorial Contributions in honor of Stella's name, can be made to Poor Clare Monastery of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 809 E. 19th Street, Roswell, NM 88201
Serving as pallbearers will be Marty Torrez, Glen Blake, William S. Bennett Jr., Charlie Sparnon, Brandon Lattimore, and Scott Schumpert.

Special thanks to the many caregivers over the years including Elizabeth and staff at Bee Hive Home; Julie Adams and staff and recently Ginny and her staff at Heartfelt Manor.
