Shirley was born November 29, 1942, to John Cleveland Baker Jr. and Mildred Almeda Lindsey in Austin, TX.
Shirley graduated from Roswell High School with honors in 1961 and was voted most likely to succeed, then continued to Baylor University where she also graduated with honors. Shirley loved God and would do anything for anyone. Her faith was the most important thing and had a huge heart. Shirley was a great musician, a great pianist. Many times, she would play piano while her husband would sing.
Shirley married her husband, Kenneth Thompson in 1965 in Roswell First Baptist Church. They had three daughters and one son and were blessed with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley loved her dogs, Zara, Superman and Groot. Shirley will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, John, and Mildred Baker.
Those left to cherish Shirley’s memory is her husband, Kenneth Thompson; her son, John Thompson of Michigan; daughter, Esther Martinez of Roswell, NM; daughter, Sarah of Missouri; daughter, Sabrina Thompson of Roswell, NM and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
