RUTH ALICE LEAF KNOEDLERServices are scheduled for 1:00 P.M., Friday, July 14, 2006 at First United Methodist Church for Alice Knoedler, age 100, of Roswell, who passed away July 8, 2006, Villa del Rey Retirement Community. Pastor Archie Echols of First United Methodist Church will officiate with interment to follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be at LaGrone Funeral Chapel, Thursday, 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., July 13, 2006.

Alice was born March 16, 1906 in Coal Valley, Illinois to Peter and Cecelia Leaf. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, her brother Carl Leaf and sister Anna Leaf Forgie, and her husband Lawrence E. Knoedler.

On August 24, 1927 Alice married Lawrence Knoedler in Moline, Illinois. Alice and Larry were happily married for seventy years.

Alice is survived by her sons: James Knoedler and his wife Britta of Seabrook, TX and Dr. Gerald Knoedler and his wife Janet of Duluth, GA.; Grandchildren: Andrew Knoedler and his wife Audra and their children Alex, Matthew and Megan of Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, Dr. Alice Knoedler-Wenger and her husband Dr. Michael Wenger and their daughter Anwen of State College, PA, Kristen Knoedler of Seabrook, TX, Julie Rendleman and her husband Roger and their daughter Annsley of Auburn, AL, John Knoedler of Los Angles, CA, and several nieces and nephews.

Alice graduated from Moline High School in 1924 and she graduated from Western Illinois State Teachers College in 1926. She taught in the Moline public school from 1926 to 1927. After marrying Mr. Knoedler they moved to Macomb, Ill., where she substituted in Macomb public schools until 1937 when they moved to Artesia, NM... They owned and operated a general hi-way store at Espuela, NM. The family then moved to Roswell in 1944. They owned and operated the Knoedler Grocery store for 25 years. In 1962 they purchased and operated the Country Club Mobile Home Manor until 1998 in Roswell.

Alice was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Rocky S.S. Class, a member of the PEO Chapter B and the Social Order of Beauceant-Assembly 116.

Alice was a sweet and wonderful person and will be missed by all who knew her.
