Roshan Chamran

December 20, 1961 — April 4, 2026

Roshan, whose name means "bright light" in Farsi, truly lived up to her name. She aspired to be of help to others, a mission she fulfilled through her work alongside her mother, Tamsen Horan, at the Continuation High School within the Adolescent Boys Juvenile Hall in Contra Costa County, California. She continued this meaningful work in Ruidoso, counseling adolescent girls. Whether providing a warm greeting at the Circle K in the Downs or serving for many years as an Advocate at the NEST shelter, her spirit and light always shone through. She sought out those who were harmed or broken and sought to lift them up. All those who had the privilege of working with her remember her as someone who always appreciated the beauty in everyday life, and would offer the shirt off her back if it meant helping someone else, even in her last days. She was full of grace and wisdom, and passed that on to anyone she spoke to through her laugh, her stories, and her art.

A gifted artist, Roshan created deeply meaningful and beautiful mandalas. Her work was intricate, vibrant, and spiritual, reflecting both her inner life and her cultural heritage.

Roshan was the daughter of the late Tamsen Horan and Dr. Mostapha Chamran. She is survived by her father, Timothy Horan; her children, Sarah and Nicholas; her brothers, Darius and Raheem Chamran; and her sister-in-law, Theresa Chamran.

The family offers special thanks to Enhabit for their compassionate hospice care and to the Lincoln County Hospice Foundation for their critical support.

In accordance with her wishes, Roshan will be cremated through the LaGrone Funeral Parlor in Roswell. She requested to be remembered through contributions to Sweet Charity, which supports the vital work of the NEST shelter.

At this time, no services are planned in Ruidoso.
