Rosemary (Wiggins) O’Neal has passed on to abide with the Lord. There she has been reunited with her husband of 67 years, Glenn O’Neal. Rosemary was born in Roswell, NM on March 28, 1927 to L.Z. and Lora Wiggins.
She was the youngest of 4 children. Her siblings Eunice Walker, Viola Fahrlender, and Larry Wiggins as well as her parents, surely greeted her on her arrival. After graduating from Roswell High School in 1945, Rosemary began to work for the Chaves County Abstract Company, a job she would hold for the next 47 years.
In 1948, she began to date an ex-GI. Once he finished his college education at Abilene Christian University she married Glenn O’Neal on August 26, 1950 and was his faithful companion and friend for 67 years. It took a while, but in 1965 she welcomed her only daughter to the world, Gwyn.
This was the single greatest blessing of her life and her deep and abiding love for her daughter never wavered. When grandchildren entered the world, she moved from mother to grandmother with ease and took on the role with great passion.
She was a major guiding influence on her grandchildren, Skyla and Kyler, and showered them with love. Rosemary’s love for family was truly unmatched, however, her love and passion for Christ was the true guiding light in her life. Few people have used their time on earth in such a steady attempt to follow Christ.
Heavily involved in her church, Country Club Road Church of Christ, her loving word, her cards, and her cooking have comforted an untold number of fellow Christians throughout her life. Rosemary is survived by her daughter Gwyn Burd, two grandchildren, Skyla Krause (Husband, David Krause) and Kyler Burd, great-grandson, Whitten Krause, nephews, Larry Fahrlender (wife, Margi), Terry Fahrlender (wife, Dawn), and Richard Fahrlender (wife, Rhonda), and nieces Julie O’Neal and Debbie O’Neal.
After dedicating nearly 97 years to instilling a love for God in her family and all who met her, she has earned her final rest at His side. If our lives are defined by how positively we impact those around us, few lives have been so well lived. Rosemary will forever stand as an inspiration and model for living a Christ-like life.
A graveside service will be held for Rosemary on Thursday March 21, 2024 at 1 PM at McBride Veteran's Cemetery.
