Romelio S. Garcia
Romelio S. Garcia (Melo), age 78, passed away on August 15, 2025, in his hometown of Roswell, New Mexico. Melo was born on February 11, 1947, to his father Eulalio Garcia and his mother, Esefrofia Samora.
Melo attended Roswell High School as a teenager, before enlisting in the United States Army in his early 20’s, were he served his country for numerous years. After his honorable discharge, Melo went on to retire from the Highway Department, where he dedicated his skills and work ethic to. After his retirement, Melo spent much of his time serving in his church. Melo was a faithful servant of the Lord, and a proud member of Waymaker Church for many years until his passing.
Melo enjoyed many different hobbies in life but was specifically skilled when it came to his yard. He had a green thumb and was able to bring life to all plants, trees, grass and vegetation. He was patient, and truly astonishing with the tender care he would provide for the things he cherished. He was also an avid animal rescuer, though many of the animals he rescued became one of his own. Melo was a generous and kind man, always willing and available for anyone who needed him. He was an extraordinary provider for his family, and he was an amazing example of love for all who had the opportunity to know him. Melo will be missed abundantly.
Melo leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Frances Garcia, as well as many children; stepchildren; grandchildren; step grandchildren; great grandchildren; step great grandchildren; as well as many more extended family members, friends, and furry companions.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 2PM-6PM, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. A funeral service to honor the life of Melo will be held the following day, August 28, 2025, at 10AM, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. A burial will take place following the service at McBride Veterans Cemetery, where he will receive an honorable send-off for his services to our country.
