Roger Mcclain

August 24, 1936 — February 3, 2018

MCCLAIN, ROGER DENNIS- Roger Dennis McClain passed away February 3, 2018, at the age of 81. Roger was born August 24, 1936 in Havensville, KS to Denver D. McClain and E. Marie Rairdon-McClain.

Roger met and married his wife, Jane Powell, in 1955 while stationed at Walker AFB where he was serving with the US Air Force. During his service Roger received The National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, as well as a Unit Citation.

Upon discharge from the armed forces Roger moved his family to Denver, CO where he and Jane raised their three children. While in Denver, Roger worked many jobs including Taxicab driver, Waiter, Swim Instructor, and US Postal Worker. Moving to Cloudcroft, NM in 1979, Roger and Jane eventually made their way back to Roswell where he worked for Farmers Brothers, co-owned The Claim restaurant with his son Dan, and delivered pharmacy orders for PharMerica and Omnicare until March 2017.

Roger enjoyed, gardening, grilling, camping, fishing, cracking pecans, and his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren but most of all he loved God and his beautiful wife of 61 years.

Roger is preceded in death by his wife Jane Ellen Powell-McClain, parents Denver and Marie McClain, sister Patricia Bieghler, and grandson Ryley W. McClain (1987-2010 son of Dan & Susie McClain).

Roger is survived by his brothers Dean and Terrance McClain, children/grandchildren David McClain Sr. his son David Jr., Dan & Susie McClain their daughter Shea, and Tracie McClain her son Lancelot, and great-grandchildren Leila 8yr., Bailey 7yr., Wesley 6yr., Ryley 5yr., Donovan 3yr., Nevaeh 2yr., and Bentley 21mo.

There will be no funeral services, per Roger's wishes. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 4300 San Mateo Blvd. NE Suite B186 Albuquerque, NM 87110, under the name of his grandson Ryley W. McClain.
