A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm, Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Rodney D. Corn. A celebration of life will be held following the service at the family home. Interment will be held at a later date. Dr. Dennis G. Atherton will officiate.
Rodney soared into the heavens of eternal peace on September 1, 2015. He was born in Roswell, New Mexico at Saint Mary's hospital on October 24, 1956 to Robert Fred and Martha Jo Carson Corn.
Rodney was raised on the Corn family ranch. A life he truly loved, this is where he felt the closest to God. He often reflected on his ranching days and felt blessed to have lived the life of ranching. His father, the late Robert F. Corn, taught him to love the great outdoors. He was a true outdoorsman - he loved to fish, hunt, fly, ski, sail, boat, skydive and balloon. He was also an accomplished skydiver.
Rodney attended Eastern New Mexico University where he graduated with his Bachelors of Science in Aviation. He then went on to graduate school where he earned his Masters of Business Administration with highest honors in August of 2015 from the University of the Southwest.
Rodney was a professional pilot and flight instructor who loved the skies. He saved many lives as a pilot for the air ambulance service in Roswell, these lives are his true legacy. The people he touched and had an impact with will greatly miss him. He loved music, mostly saxophone and guitar. Rodney's laughter and love was bigger than life. He loved to make people happy. He excelled at everything he did. He was a great son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Martha Jo Carson Corn; daughter, Tawny Garza; brother, Robert B. Corn and his wife Nancy; grandchildren, Xavier, Sotero, Gwendolyn, Layla and Ethan Garza and the love of his life, Karen Maynes Corn; step-children, Lauren M. Neumann and Alexander Baker.
Memorials may be made in his name to The Roswell Refuge and The Cowboy Bell Scholarship Fund at First United Methodist Church, 200 N. Pennsylvania, Roswell, NM 88201 or to a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
