Raymond Lopez

Raymond Lopez, 82, passed away on August 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on September 7, 1943, to Savina Lopez and Pablo Alvarado, Raymond was a beloved father of 16 children and a cherished grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.

Raymond was a strong fighter with a great sense of humor. He was a true jokester, always ready to make those around him laugh. He loved working on cars and trucks, especially Chevy trucks. Everyone who knew him knew he hated Fords and was always quick to recommend a Chevy. He also simply loved good food and eating.

Raymond will be remembered for his strength, humor, stubbornness, love of Chevy trucks, and most of all, the memories and love he shared with his family. His laughter and spirit will live on through the many generations he leaves behind.

As we gather for Dad’s final goodbye and private burial, we invite immediate family to wear a plain white T-shirt and jeans — just as Dad wore every day. It’s a simple, meaningful way to honor him and carry a piece of him with us as we lay him to rest.

His fight is over. His love lives on.

A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Artesia, New Mexico, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m.

A private burial will take place on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at South Park Cemetery in Roswell, New Mexico, limited to immediate family.
