ADKINS, ODELLGraveside services will be Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 2:00 PM, at the South Park Cemetery, 3101 S. Main in Roswell, NM. Lynn Money will be officiating.

There will be visitation between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the LaGrone Funeral Chapel, 900 S. Main Street, Roswell, NM.

Odell Adkins passed away peacefully on September 19, 2014 in Midland, Texas. She was born in Tahlequah, OK on February 28, 1921 to Claude and Ruth Davidson.

Odell attended high school in McCamey, TX, where she was a cheerleader and accomplished basketball player, winning several awards. She graduated in 1939 and then married the love of her life, Wayne Adkins on June 26, 1939 in Roswell, NM. While Wayne was off to war in 1942, Odell was busy being a mother and working as a secretary at the Carlsbad Air Force Base. When the war ended in 1945, Wayne and Odell settled in Artesia, NM where Odell worked in the school administration office and pursued a degree in English and Arts. She graduated from the College of Artesia with a BA in 1971 and later completed her education at ENMU at Portales, NM, with a Master of Education.

Wayne and Odell moved to Roswell, NM in 1974 where Odell taught English at both Mountain View and Sierra Middle Schools. Odell was an avid artist and active member of the Roswell Art League. She was also a member of the Country Club Road Church of Christ. She retired from the Roswell school system in 1986.

Odell is survived by her daughter, Judy Cameron of Denver, CO her son and daughterinlaw, David and Sherri Adkins of Midland, TX one brother, Richard Davidson of Caldwell, ID Cory Cameron and wife Kelley Jason Cameron and wife Aimee Cambra Kozckur and husband Barrett Sydney Adkins Chris Spencer and wife Brandy Brent Harris and wife Nycole. She has 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Odell is preceded in death by her mother and father her husband, Wayne her brothers, Claude, Donald and Jim her sister, Sarabell and her son in law, James Cameron.
