Milburn Rodgers

RODGERS, M. O. BUDDY -- Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church, for M. O. Buddy Rodgers, age 81, of Roswell, who passed away September 8, 2006 at Casa Nursing Home. Rev. Dare Stevens of the First United Methodist Church will conduct the service. Burial will be at a later date at South Park Cemetery.

Buddy was born February 14, 1925 in Burkburnett, Texas, to Jess and Pearl Rodgers. His parents preceded him in death.

He attended Roswell schools and graduated from RHS in 1943. He then joined the Army Air Corps. Buddy met Josephine Iapello while in the service. They were married in Roswell on October 19, 1945. She has also preceded him death.

Buddy had been owneroperator of Savage Brothers Electric and retired after almost fifty years. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. He was also very active in the Elks Lodge, in which he was Exalted Ruler of Roswell Lodge 969 in 1973. He later became District Deputy for the Grand Lodge.

After his retirement he joined the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center Auxiliary in 1994. He worked at the hospital facility while it was still under construction, greeting and helping visitors at the information desk. He served on the Executive Committee as Auxiliary Treasurer from 1995 to 2004. Buddy contributed 2900 hours in the hospital and countless hours managing the Auxiliarys interests. Because of Buddys financial expertise, the Auxiliary flourished monetarily. Buddy enjoyed volunteering and went out of his way to help visitors in the hospital. He was proud to wear the red jacket.

Survivors include 3 sons; Tommy Rodgers of Lake Mary, Florida and his wife Kathy; Paul Rodgers and his wife Patty of Roswell; and Mark Rodgers and his wife Jeannie of Dexter. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren; Tomi Rodgers of Reno, NV, Collin Rodgers and his wife Candice of New York City, NY, Bryan Rodgers and Lindsay Burden both of Roswell, Drew Rodgers of Dexter and Dani Rodgers of Las Cruces, NM, and 1 great-grandchild, Jaylynn Burden of Roswell.
