Mary Kelly

A memorial service will be held 1:30 pm, Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Assumption Catholic Church for Mary Ann (Mickie) Kelly, age 89, who passed away on May 3, 2015. Father Joseph Pacquing will officiate.

Mary Ann was born in West Point, Nebraska on January 31, 1926 to Bernard and Anna Stalp.

Mary Ann attended catholic school in her hometown from first through twelfth grade. She and her 7 siblings were raised on a large farming and cattle operation. She received her degree as a Registered Nurse from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in 1947.

She married the love of her life Dr. Harold Kelly in 1948. In pursuit of his career as a veterinarian, they moved to Albuquerque, Deming and subsequently Roswell, NM. Mary Ann always pursed her vocation as a Registered Nurse. She was House Supervisor at St. Mary's Hospital for many years. After Harold's death, she became a staff nurse at ENMMC. She will be remembered for her compassionate and loving nature.

After retirement Mary Ann was very active helping raise her granddaughter Clair. She volunteered at the Roswell Historical Museum. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and made many beautiful quilts. Mary Ann was a devout catholic and attended Assumption Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son in law, William Bruce Poorbaugh and her siblings, Henry Stalp, Robert Stalp, Bernard Stalp, Dolores Stalp and Sally Lubker.

She is survived by her daughter, Jean Marie Poorbaugh; granddaughter, Clair Poorbaugh Norcross and her husband Joshua; great grandson William Bruce Norcross; sisters, Carol Revel and Lucille Miller.

The family would like to thank the staff of Lovelace Regional Hospital and special friend and caretaker Cecile Lowe.
