Mark Stephen Henderson

Mark Stephen Henderson, age 60, of Roswell, NM, passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2025, at Mountain View Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM.

Mark was born on October 7, 1964, in Albuquerque, NM, to Steve Loren Henderson and Carol Jane Roberts Henderson.

He was an active and engaged student, participating in numerous organizations and activities. He was a member of the Boy Scouts, Christian Youth Fellowship, and the Goddard High School wrestling team. Mark sang in the Goddard High School choir, the Swingers vocal group, and starred as Professor Harold Hill in the school’s production of The Music Man. He also was chosen as Mr. GHS by his classmates.

He was a Boys State representative, a Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar attendee in Michigan, and was selected by Senator Pete Domenici to interview for an appointment to the

U.S. Air Force Academy. Mark grew up in the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Roswell and served as Master Councilor in DeMolay.

Mark began his college education at Arizona State University, where he pledged Sigma Phi Epsilon. He graduated from San Jose State University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Management, Political Science, and Law.

Throughout his career, Mark worked for several companies including Jani-King International in California and Arizona, Prudential Financial, Camelback Toyota in Phoenix, and Leprino Manufacturing in Roswell. He eventually formed his own company, Maintenance Services, in Roswell.

A passionate outdoors man, Mark loved fishing, hunting, and spending time in the mountains – especially at the old family cabin on the Bonita. He took great pleasure in gardening and proudly completed the Master Gardener course through NMSU.

Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, Loren and Vera Henderson, and E.J. and Arkie Roberts; his aunt, Kay Henderson Rhodes; and uncle, Joe Rhodes. He is survived by his parents, Steve and Carol Henderson of Roswell; his son, Stephen Loren Henderson of Colorado Springs, CO; his sisters, Cindy Redding of Santa Fe, NM, her daughter Constance Redding of Minneapolis, MN., Tonya Winder of Cave Creek, AZ., brother Jon Henderson, his wife Bertha Ortega Henderson of Houston, TX and their children Airman 1st Class Michael Ortega, San Antonio, TX, Matthew Henderson, and Madelyn Henderson of Houston, TX., cousins Joseph Rhodes and wife Natalie Morales Rhodes of Los Angeles, CA. their sons Josh and Luke, Julie Rhodes Leftridge of Webster, MO, her children Henry and Logan and former wife Caroline Elizabeth Baldwin of Spokane, WA.

Mark will be remembered for his kind heart, ready smile, and willingness to lend a helping hand to all those around him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church in Roswell, NM.
