Margaret Louise Michelet Choat

June 20, 1929 – August 14, 2025

Margaret Louise Michelet Choat was born to James (Jim) & Jeannette Jacobson Michelet on June 20, 1929, in Hagerman, New Mexico. She graduated from Hagerman High School in 1947 before marrying her lifelong husband, R. Roy Choat on June 20, 1947, in Hagerman, New Mexico.

Margaret spent many wonderful years in her hometown, Hagerman, and in doing so spent much of her time involved with the city and its activities. Margaret was the 2nd Worthy Advisor of Order of Rainbow for Girls for Hagerman Assembly #34; She was at one point the Matron of D. E.S. Harmony Chapter #17; as well as the President of American Legion Unit #43. Margeret was also a lifetime member of 1st Presbyterian Church of Hagerman, where she displayed the heart of a faithful servant of the Lord. She served in her Church as a Sunday School teacher and the Church treasurer. Margaret was also the Secretary of Ella Hedges Circle for many years.

Margaret was joined in Heaven by her parents, beloved husband Roy, sisters Jeanne Langenegger and Lucille Mayberry.

Margaret is survived by her two sons, Mike Clark Choat of Miles City, MT and Paul Lee Choat and his wife, Jacque, of New Home, Tx.; three granddaughters, Christa & Eric Maxwell, Angela & David Wieder, both of San Antonio, Tx, and Heather Choat of Lubbock, Tx. Four great-granddaughters, Peyton & Zoey Maxwell, and Adalyn & Samantha Wieder; and two great-grandsons Seth & Sean Wieder; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Margaret will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, from 10AM- 11:30AM, with a funeral service following the visitation at 11:45AM, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. After the services, there will be a short break, before the burial takes place at 2PM, at Hagerman Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 1st Presbyterian Church of Dexter or St Jude's Children’s hospital.
