Lucy attended Massachusetts State College, Amherst, MA (now U-Mass), graduating in June 1946 with her bachelor's degree in Home Economics and a minor in Childhood Education. She was a proud member of Pi Beta Phi (a "Pi Phi" girl).
Lucy raised the family at the home in Auburn, was an active member in all the events and committees at The First Baptist Church of North Oxford and helped establish the Jack and Jill Pre-school at the church. She then helped establish the first publicly mandated kindergartens for the town of Oxford, MA; continued her education and spent 10 years as a Kindergarten Administrator and Teacher, Clara Barton Elementary, N. The family wishes to thank all the girls at Comfort Keepers, especially our Kaylea, for their kindness and caring of our Mother Lucy these past few years.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your favorite charity in Lucy's name. Or Lucy would be pleased to know that you just took the time to brighten someone's day with a card or a hug and a big smile.
A Memorial Service for Lucy will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 18, 2022 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Lucy and Alfred will be interred to rest at Southwest Cemetery, Oakham, Massachusetts at a later date.
