Lucas Ponce

PONCE, LUCAS - Lucas Ponce, age, 84 of Dexter, NM was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, on October 18, 1933 to Juan Ponce and Rosalia Sanchez Ponce. Lucas passed away April 11, 2018 at Casa Maria Health Care Center.

A rosary will be recited for Lucas at 7:00 PM, Sunday, April 15, 2018 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Funeral service at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 16, 2018 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at South Park Cemetery. Deacon Chris Gutierrez of St. Peters Catholic Church officiating.

Lucas was a gentle caring person that enjoyed life; he was a musician playing trumpet and guitar and also would sing, he liked eating ice cream, playing bingo, going to the casinos and would take walks in the yard. Lucas was a Dallas Cowboy fan and loved talking football.

Those left to cherish Lucas' memory are his children: Bobby Ponce and wife, Celia of Roswell, NM; Randall Ponce of Roswell, NM, Manuel Ponce and wife, Delphina of Roswell, NM; Bibian Ponce and wife, Lollie of Dexter, NM; Lupe Ponce and wife, Kerry of Fort Worth, TX; Tina Ward and husband, Monty of Fort Worth, TX; Mary and husband, Samuel of Fort Worth, TX; 7 brothers and 6 sisters: Mary Mendoza, Carlota Vasquez, Juan Ponce, Margie Darrough, Helen Diaz, Jesse Ponce, Mary Lou Martinez, Louie Ponce, Vera Lopez, Angel Ponce, Arturo Ponce, Ester Ponce and Arsenio Ponce. Lucas was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and friends, he will be greatly missed by all.

Lucas is preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Ponce; parents, Juan and Rosalia Ponce; and daughter-in-law, Irene Ponce.

Serving as pallbearers are Luis Aguilar, Orlando Ponce, Ray Ponce, Ray Ponce, Samantha Ponce, Samuel Ponce, Mike Ponce; honorary pallbearers are Domingo Ponce, Seth Ponce and Robert Ponce.
