Lora Jeannine Miller
July 20, 1932 – February 14, 2024
Lora Jeannine Miller, formerly of Roswell, New Mexico, passed away from this life on February 14, 2024, at the age of 91, lovingly surrounded by family in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Jeannine was born on July 20, 1932, in Antelope Flat, Texas, to Langdon Lafayette Waldrop and Permelia Annie Hill Waldrop. She moved to Roswell, New Mexico, as a young woman and there met Dale Edward Miller, her forever love. Dale and Jeannine married on November 16, 1949, and lived a beautiful life together for 71 years. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2021, and she mourned his passing and looked forward to being reunited in heaven with her “buddy”. They lived in Roswell for the duration of their life together and enjoyed raising their family. Jeannine was a homemaker when the children were young and later became an elementary school librarian at Military Heights Elementary and Sunset Elementary and finished her working career at the Media Center. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Roswell and volunteered as the librarian for the church library for many years. She loved reading and taught many children to love it as well. After retirement, she and Dale were able to travel and enjoy time with friends and family. They learned to square dance and regularly danced several times a week. Jeannine was an avid genealogist and loved researching family history. She loved sharing this talent and helped others to research their families. She became very involved in quilting and made several quilts for her family. Her best quilts that are treasured by family were blue jean quilts made from the family’s old jeans. She was involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives and never forgot a birthday. “Granny” will be missed by her family and all that knew her.
Jeannine is preceded in death by her husband, Dale, her parents and two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her three children, Mark Miller and his wife Debbie of Hartsel, Colorado, Rick Miller and his wife Bonnie of Murphy, Texas and Marcia Maestas and her husband Rudy of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Her surviving grandchildren are Amanda Blatnick, Josh Miller, Billy Weston, Sr., Jess Weston, Lisa Maestas, Julie Maestas-Pierce, and Juan Maestas as well as twenty great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews across the county are saddened at her passing.
