Lois Box

Lois M. Hatch Box, age 86, of Roswell passed away Wednesday November 30, 2016. She will lie in-state 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Friday December 9, 2016 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. A Viewing for Lois Box will be at 9:00 to 9:30 AM Saturday December 10, 2016 prior to the services at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the Relief Society room. Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday December 10, 2016, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2201 W. Country Club Road Roswell NM. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Bishop Alan Jackson will be officiating.

Lois was born in Clovis NM, on October 18, 1930 to R. Reed Hatch and Elva Bradberry Hatch.

She attended Roswell High School where she met the love of her life and eternal companion Jack O. Box. They married in 1948 and made Roswell their home for over 66 years before the passing of Jack.

Lois was a woman of many talents believing "you can do anything that you set your mind to." She had a beautiful Alto singing voice in which she served the Lord by singing in the church choir for many years. She had many talents from sculpturing, pottery, pastel and oil painting, to silver smithing and sewing for her family and making wedding dresses for others. She had an eye for beauty and the burning desire to create.

She had an intense love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, having served in countless positions as a teacher from the smallest of children to the youth and the senior adult classes. She also served as Primary and Relief Society Presidents. She never let an opportunity pass her by to instill in her children the love she had for her Savior and the gospel. She encouraged her children to be righteous and follow the example of Jesus Christ.

Lois was a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother, great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother. Her family was the most precious gift she was given.
She was preceded in death by her parents R. Reed Hatch and Elva R. Hatch, husband Jack O. Box sons; Jack W. Box, Reed Walter Box, granddaughter; Jennifer E. Swepston and great great granddaughter Rozalyn Petersen, sister Edith Medaris and brothers in law A.R. Medaris and Carl Franks.

She is survived by her son Patrick M. and his wife Marlene Box of Pleasant Grove, UT, daughters; Sue Ann Price and her husband Rodney of Roswell, NM, Kimberly Lynn Hendricks and her husband Derrick of Roswell, MM, Sara Leigh Shaw and her husband Roy of Roswell, NM, and Carol Jean Bare of Clovis, NM. A sister Jean Medaris of Roswell, NM, and a brother J. Brent Hatch and his wife Sharon of Showlow, AZ, 19 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
