Leonarda Castro

CASTRO, LEONARDA - Our beloved mother, Leonarda Castro, age 92, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at her home in Roswell, NM surrounded by the love of her family. Leonarda was born November 6, 1925 in Villa Guererro Jalisco, Mexico to Leonardo Canela and Juanita Espinoza. She married Salvador Castro on February 2, 1946 in Villa Guererro Jalisco, Mexico.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Raul Castro and wife Rosario; and Carlos Castro of Roswell, NM; daughters, Socorro Estrada and husband, Armando of Odessa, TX; Maria Soto and husband, Antonio; Juana Lopez and husband Jesus; Alicia Loya and husband, Elias; Angelina Castro; Guadalupe Castro; Maria de Jesus Sisneros and husband, Senon all of Roswell, NM. Leonarda was also blessed with 17 grandchildren: Pedro Estrada, Raul Estrada, Manuel Soto, Salvador Soto, Veronica Soto, Brittanya Anchondo, Nikomi Bejarano, Lily Loya, Rita Loya, Eliza Loya, Elizar Loya Jr., Raul Castro Jr., Biyanca Castro, Bryana Castro, Veneza Castro, Samantha Pantoja, Savanna Hernandez; and a greater blessing of 33 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; a sister, Socorro Velasco of Roswell, NM and brother Juan Canela of Mexico.

Leonarda is preceded in death by her husband, Salvador Castro; daughter, Rosa Irma Castro; parents, Leonardo Canela and Juanita Espinoza; siblings, Cayetano Canela, Rogelio Canela, Ramon Canela, Mercedes Canela, Catalina Canela and Raul Canela.
Those chosen as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Pedro Estrada, Raul Estrada, Manuel Soto, Salvador Soto, Raul Castro Jr., Eliazar Loya Jr.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM, Monday, August 6, 2018 at St. John Catholic Church and a resurrection mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at St. John Catholic Church. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery in Roswell, NM.
