J. Ronald Ballew, born in Grand Junction, Colorado in 1940 to Russell and Dorothy Ballew, passed away on February 9, 2024, at the age of 83. 

Ronald was an esteemed independent business owner in Artesia, New Mexico. He attended Roswell High School, graduating in 1958. During his senior year, Ronald distinguished himself as the Golden Gloves Boxing Champion for New Mexico. It was also during this time that he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Adcock.

Dedicating eight years of his life to serving his country, Ronald served honorably in the US Army. 

     Ronald's legacy is cherished by his three children, James, Deborah, and Robert, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

In his earlier years, Ronald was an avid fisherman and hunter, finding solace and joy in the great outdoors. He cherished the camaraderie of camping trips with friends from the Elks Lodge. Furthermore, Ronald was known for his culinary skills, delighting family and friends alike with his gourmet cooking.

     Ronald's warmth, generosity, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

 

     A memorial service to celebrate Ronald's life will be held at South Park Cemetery in Roswell on Friday, Feb. 16th at 10:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your charity of choice. 

Forever in our hearts, Ronald's spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May he rest in peace.
