John Bunch

December 11, 1933 — February 25, 2020

Roswell, New Mexico

Bill Bunch, age 86, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully at home on February 25, 2020, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Dexter, NM, at the Doctors office to Ed and Myrtle Bunch on December 11, 1933. Bill was a New Mexico Historian and Ghost Towner.

The New Mexico sunsets and nature were the source of dad’s passion. His love of nature was reflected in his artwork. His barbed wire cowboys and his devil’s claw roadrunners. He loved to cook and bake bread. He was a blue ribbon winner at the Eastern New Mexico State Fair with his sour dough bread.

Bill was honorably discharged from the US Army on August 6, 1954. He was stationed in Japan and was a weather prognosticator while there.

He is survived by his loving wife Angela L. Bunch and his children Sheri Bunch Parson and James Bunch, and Teri Bunch Ortiz. Also by his stepchildren, Christopher Leyba and Janet Leyba Morgan. He loved his 12 grandchildren and also his 9 great-grandchildren. Also, his beloved dog and two cats.

He is survived by a large extended family or as we say a Bunch of Bunches.

A Special thanks to Patricia Poland for her care of Bill and going above and beyond expectations of her job. We also appreciate the staff from Kinder Hospice who were wonderful with him in their care of Bill.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday March 2, 2020 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel with Tim Arlett officiating.

Psalm 24

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas
and established it on the waters.

Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?

The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not trust in an idol
or swear by a false god.

They will receive blessing from the Lord
and vindication from God their Savior.

Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek your face, God of Jacob.

Lift up your heads, you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.

Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
the Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.

Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord Almighty—
he is the King of glory.
