James "Jim" Evans

EVANS, JAMES “JIM”-  Jim was born August 20, 1938 in Hobbs, New Mexico. At the age of 18, he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served for 24 years, retiring as Master Sergeant. After retirement, Jim went to work with Lockheed Martin in the Space Program. He was respected and loved by many.

Jim is survived by his wife, Thelma Harwell-Evans; sons: Monnie “Smitty” Smith (Rita - Wife, Sheri – daughter), James D. Evans Jr. (Valerie – Wife, Alaina Evans – Daughter, Matthew Gonzales – Son). Jim shared a special bond with: Jimmy, Julie, Roger, Whitney, Lindsey, Gabe, Cayson, Dennis, as well as other extended family.

Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie “Pearl” Evans.

Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Whitcamp, Jimmy Harwell, Matthew Gonzales, Carl Gerkin, Adolph Castillo, Jason Smith, Keven Hennington, and Rick Candelaria.

A viewing will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Thursday June 25, 2020 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 26, 2020 at South Park Cemetery in Roswell, NM.
