James Woody

In Loving memory of James (Jimmy) Frank Woody who was “Promoted to Glory” on September 22, 2021 at age 83. He was born to James Paul Ashley Woody and Bessie Irene (Hagar) Woody on May 08, 1938. He was married to Charlotte Joy (Cox) Woody on April 8, 1961.

He is survived by his son James E. “Bo” Woody and wife Lucille “Luci” (Hunt) Woody, grandson Michael W. Woody and wife Ramona “Mona” (Mc Dowell) Woody son-in-law James Glenny all of Roswell; granddaughter Alicia “Lish” (Woody) Evens and husband Cody Evens of Reading, PA; grandson Matthew J. Woody (currently serving in the U.S. Navy) and wife Alicia (Muse) Woody, great-granddaughter Autumn and great-grandson Beau Matthew Woody of Gulf Port Mississippi; brother Chester P. Woody and wife Betty Woody , sisters Agnus Rose “Rosie” Buckner of Roswell and Bessie Mae Etchison and husband Gene of Ames Oklahoma,   brother-in-law Luther Cox Jr. and wife Ginney Cox of Lubbock, TX; sister-in-law Billie (Foster) Cox of TX as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins from all around the country.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Charlotte Joy (Cox) Woody, daughter Jeneva (Woody) Glenny, father James Paul Ashley Woody mother Bessie Irene Woody brothers Verlie Jim “Jay” Woody William Morris “Sonny” Woody sisters Georgia Nichols, Betty Kosloski, Nellie Herrington, Doris Beasly and Pauline King.

A viewing will be held at LaGrone funeral chapel on Tuesday September 28, 2021 from 1:00PM to 6:00 PM. A service to celebrate the life of Jimmy will be held on Wednesday September 29, 2021 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel at 10:00 am, with a brief graveside service to follow at South Park Cemetery, led by Mark Dunn.

Active pallbearers are Michael Woody, Matthew Woody James Glenny, Cody Evens, John Woody, Clay Woody, Alternate Roman Ortega.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Salvation Army Roswell Corps so that the work Jimmy and Charlotte so cherished may be continued in the community they loved.
