Helen Hart

April 16, 1925 — January 16, 2016

Helen E. Hart was born April 16, 1925 in Hartford, Kentucky to Ida Shultz and William Bean. She died peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2016, in the city she loved, Roswell, New Mexico.

Helen was raised in Akron, Ohio by a loving aunt and uncle, Cesna and Ross Allen. She moved to Chaves County with her first husband, Donald Barnhill, and their two small children and lived first in Orchard Park before settling in Roswell, where she lived for the rest of her life. A homemaker, she was an expert seamstress, voracious reader and enthusiastic traveler. She was a member of the Roswell Eagles, and a past President of the Roswell Elks Chapter Does. In later years she crocheted hundreds of lap blankets for infants and wheelchair patients.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Charles Hart, mother Ida Shultz-Stillings, aunt and uncle Cesna and Ross Allen, daughters Denise Tyler and Nancy Barnhill, sons Gary and Joshua Barnhill, and niece Joyce Keene.
She is survived by her son Arizona Barnhill and daughter-in-law Regina of Gold Canyon, AZ, son Gordon Barnhill of Roswell, and nephew Joseph Allen and wife Arlene of Novelty, O.H., eleven grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Helen had a long, rewarding yet at times challenging life, out living four of her six children, and three husbands. For the last ten years of her life she was under the compassionate care of Casa Maria Health Care Center of Roswell.

In accordance with Helen's wishes no public services are to be held.
