HAZEL WHITEHEAD BUNNERServices are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 21, 2006 at Tabernacle Baptist Church for Hazel Bunner, age 93, of Roswell, who passed away Wednesday July 19, 2006. Dr. Danny Morris will officiate, assisted by Dr. Onsy Whicker and Dr. Geary Miller of Tabernacle Baptist Church with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery.

Hazel was born March 4, 1913 in Stephen County, Oklahoma to Samuel and Sarah Cook Wagner. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, her first husband, Stanley Whitehead, her second husband Bob Bunner and her sister Beulah Shipman and brothers, Bud, Floyd, Cecil, Lois, Allie and Leon, 3 grandsons, 1 great grandson and 1 great-great grandson.

Hazel married Stanley Whitehead in 1930 and is survived by four daughters from that union: Geneva Whitehead Morris, Lilla Whitehead Brashears, Lavida Whitehead Traxler of Roswell, NM and Marthella Whitehead Norris Flowers of Wimberly, TX.

She married Bob Bunner in 1974 and is survived by stepsons Robert Bunner of Austin, TX and Greg Bunner of Trenton, MO.

Hazel is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren

Hazel and Stanley came to Roswell in 1930 where they farmed at East Grand Plains for many years. During her 93 years, she saw and experienced many changes in the world. Presidents came and went, nations rose and fell. She lived through the Great Depression, two world wars, the destruction of the Berlin Wall and the fall of communism. Through it all she was a humble homemaker and a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She spoke of the hardships of farm life, but to her it wasnt hard, it was just life. She was proud of her family and very thankful shed raised God-fearing daughters. She was famous for her wonderful pies and beautiful alto voice. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, in trios and quartets, and often with her brother Leon. She was dearly loved and respected by all, and will be sorely missed until that Blessed Day when the roll is called up yonder.
