Harriet Pinkerton

PINKERTON HARRIET- Harriet Pinkerton, age 94, passed away July 24, 2018 at Lovelace Regional Hospital. A memorial service to celebrate her life is scheduled Saturday, August 11, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at Westminster Presbyterian Church 2801 W.4th St. Roswell, NM 88201. The Reverend Randy Nolen will officiate.

Harriet was born March 25, 1924 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Harry and Helen Meyers. She married her soul mate, Robert "Pinky" Pinkerton, on June 5, 1943. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1999. Those left to cherish her life include children- Grant Pinkerton and wife Patricia, Sandra Stauffer and husband Michael, and Clay Pinkerton; five grandchildren- Catherine Urban and husband Bernie, Tina Smith and husband Tim, Jonathan Pinkerton, Christy Young, and Chere Morgan; and eight great grandchildren- Tanner Smith, Austin Urban, Caden Young, Colin Young, Coltin Young, Bowen Morgan, Tanner Morgan and Tucker Morgan.

Harriet and Bob moved to Roswell in 1952 where she lived until her death. As a wife and mother, she gave the gift of love and led by example the blessing of giving to others. She was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and active in all areas of church service. Her community activities included ENMMC Auxiliary, Order of Eastern Star, 4-h Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother and many others. She enjoyed square dancing, bowling, bicycling, and- most of all- the 10 years she and Pinky spent RV-ing across this great country together.

After Pinky died, Harriet became a spirited, spitfire advocate for at risk children of Chaves County by becoming a CASA volunteer, known by CASA staff and the courts as "Dirty Harriet," always fighting for her kids. She devoted her life to this important cause for several years. She made a difference.
