Grattney Earl Wooten

June 17, 1987 — September 13, 2023

Roswell

Grattney was born June 17, 1987 to Jerry Lynn Wooten and Cathy Banta in Clovis, NM. Grattney loved ranching and all that was involved in it! He was an outdoors Cowboy that enjoyed hunting, and horseback riding. Grattney would help anyone in need at anytime.

Grattney was preceded in death by his grandparents: Wayne and Grace Banta; and Jerry and Earlene Wooten as well as his father Jerry Lynn Wooten and uncle Bryan Wooten.

Grattney is survived by the love of his life and best friend, his wife Jolene; her parents, Bill and Nancy Murray; mother, Cathy Banta, brother, Joseph (Kate) Morlan; sister, Bobbi Verquer and several aunts and uncles as well as numerous cousins. Grattney had many great friends, too many to mention, that were known as “brothers” to him. Grattney was blessed with many nieces and nephews which he adored; nieces: Sarah Lynn Ernst, Rae Lynn Verquer, RJ Lucero, also, Sorley and Arena Morgan, Zia McDaniel; nephews: Travis, Tyler, Tate Lucero; the Dalton boys, Kaleb and Tavren Dalton, Jace Wild Green and a host of friends.

Grattney was 100% Cowboy and that is what he always wanted to be, but could go to town and you would never know what he did for a living because he would be in Jeans, T-shirt, ball cap and street shoes. He was loved by many friends and family alike and could charm anyone with his smile and beautiful blue eyes. He could make a saint cuss like a sailor and then turn around and bless him. Grattney was a member of the Safari Club and Junior Gunslingers Rodeo Assn.

From Joe: Grattney was my best friend and savior on top of being my brother, a great man and loved hard. His passions were to be as good a person as he could be, make people laugh, and make people Happy. If he called you his friend, you are his friend till the end. If he called you brother, he loved with no end and did what he could to protect you. Grattney had many hobbies and talents and was very good at all of them. He was an awesome husband, friend, cousin, son, grandson, nephew and most of all the best brother anyone could ever ask for. Grattney strived to be the best at everything he loved. He loved to irritate and poke at you, especially when he knew you were in a bad mood, and then would say (I LUV YOU) or struggling, just to pull you back. I never met a person that didn’t love him and take into their family. He will be missed greatly but Just Know- Grattney will be watching over his loved ones forever- until we meet again.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jordan Dalton, Jacob Godinez, Ty Dalton, Justin Jolley, Billy Burke, Casey Wooten, Quirt McDaniel, Kelly Morgan, Olan Borg, Wes Mathews, Jared Green and Paul Summers.
