Gladys Smith

SMITH, GLADYS M.Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 4, 2006 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Gladys M. Smith, age 82, of Roswell, who went to be with the Lord, Monday July 31, 2006. Rev. A.J. Flinton will officiate. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Gladys was born August 12, 1923 in Pennsburg PA to Harrison and Edna Reider. They both preceded her in death as well as her husband John Adam Smith, an infant son, Richard Smith, and a brother, Roland Reider.

Gladys married John Adam Smith on August 31, 1946 in Hallstead, PA. Together they made a wonderful, happy home for their children in Conyngham, PA, prior to moving to Roswell, NM.

Gladys is survived by her sons: Ronald Smith and his wife Sharon of Logan, NM and Kenneth Smith and his wife Kayann of Sugarloaf, PA.; her daughter: Pat Huddleston and her husband Buddy of Roswell; a sister: Betty Sheer of Beaver Meadows, PA; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and 1 nephew.

Gladys attended the Zion Evangelical Congregation Church in Hazleton, PA as a child after moving to Roswell in 1977, she attended the New Covenant Fellowship Church of God. Gladys received a certificate in Engineering Drafting I from Pennsylvania State University on June 12, 1942. Gladys enjoyed Painting, Crocheting, Gardening, baking cookies for the neighbors, and feeding the birds and stray cats. Gladys wanted to be remembered as just a good person.
