Roswell

Frances Carter of Roswell, New Mexico, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Frances was born on July 7, 1931, in Willard, New Mexico to Demecia and Solomen Serna.

Frances enjoyed working as a waitress when she was young. It was there where she met the love of her life, J.B. Carter. They got married on August 16, 1952. J.B. has preceded her in death. They raised 5 children together.

Frances was a homemaker and loved her family so much.  She always enjoyed being in the kitchen making the best homemade goodies.  She started working at Knadle’s, a clothing store in downtown Roswell, after her children were older.  Frances worked as a lunch lady for the Roswell Independent School District for many years serving lunch to students across Roswell until her retirement.

Frances was involved in many clubs and activities throughout her lifetime. She was a social butterfly, and she never met a stranger. She was the light in any room. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for over 40 years where she held several positions which include: Ladies Auxiliary President and State Ladies Auxiliary President. She was also a member of TOPS, “Take Off Pounds Sensibly.” A group of ladies would get together weekly to “weigh in,” hopeful they lost the most weight that week. Then they would go out to eat to enjoy a good meal together!

Frances is survived by her brother, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous family and friends. She was loved by all and will be missed by all who knew her.

Due to Covid, a small graveside service was held Wednesday, January 26, 2022. A celebration of life in her honor will be held at a later date

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

II Corinthians 1:3-4
