HINKLE, ELBERT H. -- A Memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 21, 2006, at Bethel Baptist Church, for Elbert H. Hinkle, age 77, of Roswell, who passed away August 17, 2006, at his home. Brother Richard Grisham of Bethel Baptist Church will officiate.

Elbert was born April 17, 1929 in Tokio, Texas, to Elbert and Vicie Donaghe Hinkle. His parents preceded him in death, as well as a daughter, Nola Maxwell.

On August 1, 1953 Elbert married the love of his life Rheda F. McMillan in Plains, Texas. She survives him at the family home.

Other survivors include a son: Dale Hinkle of Louisville, CO; a daughter: Norma Hedler of Fruita, CO. Also surviving are 3 sisters: Lucile Kirkland of Brownwood, Texas, Faye Nelms of Plains, Texas and Ruth Murphree of Sanger, Texas; 4 grandchildren: Brandi MacDonald, Michael Hedler, Jordan Hinkle, and Marla Hinkle. He is also survived by his loyal companion Penny.

Elbert enjoyed witnessing to others about Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior. He was previously a deacon with numerous Baptist Churches in Texas and Colorado. He had been instrumental in several mission projects.

Elbert served in the United State Army. He was an electrician and was recently employed by Comfort Keepers of Roswell. Some of his hobbies included woodworking and photography. He thoroughly enjoyed taking family photos and was always eager to show the latest photos he had acquired.

Elbert was a very kind, patient and loving family man and friend. His was always there for anyone in need and will always be remembered in our hearts forever.

Memorials may be made in Elberts name to the Juvenile Diabetic Foundation.

Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
