Edith Bizzell

Edith Marie Bizzell flew away to be with her Lord and Saviour, Tuesday, April 14, 2020.   Her body will be laid to rest at South Park Cemetery next to her loving husband, JD.  Marie’s greatest joy was her Christian faith and her family.  She was well known for her loving kindness and generosity.  In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to her favorite charity Portales Baptist Children’s Home (www.nmbch.com).  The family also asks that you share a memory at www.lagronefuneralchapels.com.

Marie was born June 16,1928 in Childress, Texas to Orville and Maddie Johnson. Raised on a farm outside of Dexter, NM, she was one of 8 children.  Over the years she also lived in Oklahoma, Texas, California and Arkansas.

Marie married her Beloved JD Bizzell on October 13, 1961. Both were long term employees of NMMI.  Work eventually took them to Nederland, TX where they worked for Lamar University for several years.  While they enjoyed their time there, eager to return home they moved back to Roswell after JD retired.

A longtime member of Highland Baptist Church, Marie loved going to church and fellowshipping with her friends.

Marie leaves a Legacy of Love, Faith and Memories to her children, Betty (Chester) Woody, Ronald Jay (Becky) Bizzell, Franky Lynn Bizzell, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and caring neighbors DeeDee and Mike, Marsha and Floyd Lard.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, her husband JD Bizzell, and children Lois Lloyd and James “Jimmy” Dale Bizzell.
