Douglas Parsons

d. February 28, 1942

Douglas McArthur Parsons left this earthly plane on February 28, 2014, to reside eternally with his Heavenly Father. He was beloved and survived by his brother, Dan, sister-in-law, Kathy and his two nieces Dangela and Nyla all of beautiful and historic Roswell.brbrDouglas was born and abandoned in May of 1942 in Pike County, Kentucky. He was given the birthday of May 5th and nicknamed Douglas McArthur by the hospital staff. He was nicknamed such because of his fighting spirit. He was soon adopted by Press and Myrtle Parsons who made that name official. His parents greeted him in heaven upon his arrival.brbrDouglas, because of his ill treatment at birth was severly dyslexic. That did not stop him from holding a number of different jobs during his life. He would also take care of older adults. He loved his nieces and loved joking and story telling with them. One of Douglas' favorite things to do was walk. Up until this last year he would walk from south Sunset to Wal-mart a couple of times a week. His other favorite thing to do was go to church and he loved his church families at Central Christian, Christ's Church and Highland Baptist. Though you might not know because of his rough exterior but he loved and trusted God.brbrHe was always a proud and loyal son of the state of Kentucky. Sponsored by Senator Jim Bunning, Doug was commishioned as a Kentucky Colonel in 2006.brbrAs per his request there will be no public service. In lieu of flowers Doug requested that donations be made to the Special Olympics.brbrThe family would like to thank the caring and compassionate ER staff at ENMMC. They would also like to thank Doctor Audrey Vega and her staff for their patient concern for Douglas.brbrFor this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. For whoever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the worldour faith. brbrWho is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God I John 5:3-5br
