Dorothy Canon

Dorothy Canon, age 86, a resident of Roswell for the past 60 years, went peacefully to her Lord and Savior on April 2, 2016. Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday April 13, 2016 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday April 14, 2016 at Grace Community Church; burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Pastor Rick Hale will officiate.

Mrs. Canon was an active member of Grace Community Church and loved to sing with both the church choir and Silver Chords. She loved china painting, her Red Hat group, and was very active with ESGR. With ESGR she served both as Secretary and as Chairman, plus made numerous trips with the Boss Lift Project. She was also active with the American Legion Aux., DAV and DAR.

Dorothy was born to Charles and Freda Cunningham on September 2, 1929 in Miami, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents and also her husband of 66 blessed years, Joe Glen Canon. She was one of eight children. All of her brothers and sisters are living and were very dear to her. They are Norma Hall, Jack Cunningham, Mary Lou Stevens, Jim, Wayne, and Walter Cunningham and Kay Brunson. Also, those left to cherish her memory, are her daughter Katrina McCormick and husband Steve, son Gary Joe Canon and wife Genora. She also leaves granddaughter Julie Coultress and husband Russell, grandson Ryan McCormick and wife Jill. Mrs. Canon was also proud of her five great-granddaughters, Sarah, Emily and Claire Coultress and Kate and Paige McCormick. She also leaves grandchildren Jesse Harkleroad, Zack and Patricia Moore and Will and Robin Moore as well as numerous other relatives who will miss her cheerful smile.

Pallbearers will be Gary Canon, Robby Brunson, Russell Coultress, Ryan McCormick, Will Moore and Zack Moore.
Honorary Pallbearers are Don Bartlett, Jack, Jim, Walter, and Wayne Cunningham.
