Deward Hughes Jr.

HUGHES, JR., DEWARD B. "JOHN"- Deward B. "John" Hughes Jr. age, 76 of Roswell, NM passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018.

John was born January 26, 1942 to Deward Hughes Sr. and Ruth Golding in "Weslaco, TX. He married the love of his life, Shirley Monroe November 27, 1985.
John served as a Gunner's mate in US Navy and retired from Coastal Tank Lines. He was a member of Washington Ave. Fellowship. Also a long distance truck driver for 48 years, an avid reader and loved to watch movies. John enjoyed his flower garden and loved his cats: Girl-cat, Coal and Deuce.

Those left to cherish John's memory, wife Shirley Hughes of Roswell, NM; sons, Deward Hughes (Pam) of North Carolina; John Hughes (Tammy) of Muskogee, OK; daughter Carleen Hughes of Muskogee, OK; stepchildren: Rosie Sopher (Jesse) of Artesia, NM; Robert Cloud (Kim) of Roswell, NM; Ray Cloud of Florida; Rodney Cloud (Talia) of Oklahoma; Randy Cloud (Melody) of Oklahoma; brother, Joe Patton of Alberta, Canada. John was also blessed with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by both parents; son, Robert "Buzz" Hughes; stepdaughter, Rhonda Montgomery; step-granddaughter, Rebecca Montgomery.

There will be no service per his wishes, burial will take place at a later date in Cuthand, TX.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made for the trip and burial in Texas.
