Deloris Taylor

Deloris Taylor, (AKA Lois Taylor) age 86, went to be with her Lord on October 29, 2018. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, November 4th, 2018, at 6 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 115 W. 11th Street, Roswell, NM, to remember and celebrate her life.

Lois was born on December 25th, 1931, in Osciolo, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by parents Milo Overstreet and Roetta Overstreet and husband of 52 years, Virgil Nolan Taylor. She is survived by one sister, Jeanne O. Keller, Yorba Linda, California, two brothers, Samuel Thomas Overstreet and his wife Deanna Overstreet, Alamogordo, NM, and Milo Overstreet and his wife Yvette Overstreet, Elephant Butte, NM. She is also survived by two nieces, Laura Overstreet, Carlsbad NM and Diane Duke, Houston Texas, and four nephews, John Overstreet, Carlsbad, NM, Nathan Overstreet, Houston, Texas, David Overstreet, Alamogordo, NM, Robert James Keller, Yorba Linda, Calif. And ten great nieces and nephews.

Since the early 1950s, Lois has lived, worked and served her community in Roswell, NM.

Professionally, Lois Taylor was active in the oil industry since 1957. She was employed by MCCLellan Oil Corporation in 1959. When she started with the company, it was just a two person company. She went from a security-treasury and primarily a financial manager to retiring as the CEO and on the board of directors in having over 35 employees. Lois Taylor was also the director of the Sulimar Corporation and Cortez Drilling. She was co-chair of the oil and gas division of United Way.

Lois taught at ENMU-R oilfield training center in the area of Petroleum State and Federal Forms. She also served as the Chairman of the Scholarship Program. Lois also was a member of the Advisory Committee for the land support Personal Program and a member of the Single parent displaced homemaker program.

Lois was a member of the Advisory Committee for Office Education for both Roswell and Goddard High Schools. She has been a sponsor of the Desk and Derrick Club of Roswell since 1980 and has been honored numerous times.

Lois was a member of the New Mexico Landmen's Association and a member of the Altrusa Club of Roswell. She was honored in the Who's Who in the World and by the Roswell Daily Record as "Working Women of the Week".

Personally, Lois loved reading and traveling. She has been to almost all the countries of the world and most of them twice. Her favorite places were China and Europe, with Paris as her all time favorite city. Lois saw the need for missionary work in the many places she visited and helped establish and promote missionary work in those areas.

Spiritually, Lois responded to God's call for eternal life and placed her faith in his son, Jesus Christ, in 1952. At her conversion, she joined the Tabernacle Baptist Church and has faithfully served in this church for over 65 years. Whether cooking, cleaning, counseling, mentoring, teaching, or serving as deaconess, or on advisory boards, or serving as church clerk, her hands were always open.

If you knew Lois, you knew three things. You knew you could go to her for help, you knew you could go to her for wise counseling, and you knew you could go to her for prayer.
