David Dwayne Reese of Carlsbad, NM, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026, in Fort Worth Texas at the age of 66. Born on March 8, 1960, in Richmond, Virginia, he was the son of Jackie Dwayne and Catherine Raye (Caudle) Reese, both of whom preceded him in death.
David spent his early years in his hometown in Virginia, and later moved to Texas and New Mexico before settling into his home, Carlsbad, New Mexico, where he spent the remainder of his life until his passing.
David was an avid sports enthusiast from a young age; he enjoyed playing basketball and football, but his true passion was baseball. Under the guidance of his father, who coached him in Little League, David excelled as a pitcher through junior high school. David had a passion for motorcycles, and spent many years of his life riding across the country to many different motorcycle rallies and events. He was also a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, and an avid adventurist. He spent many days and nights camping, fishing, boating, tubing, and creating quality memories with family and friends. David never met a stranger.
David was a man of many stories. His life was incredibly special to himself, as it was to many others. His legacy lives on in the lives of many including his beloved wife, Stephene Reese; Daughters Cassandra Duncan and her husband, Tyson of Carlsbad, NM; Kalli Reese and her husband Paul of Roswell, NM; Ashley Perez and her husband Hector of Lexington, KY; and Sarah Reese of Roswell, NM; Bonus children Zachery Mobley and his wife Stephanie of Carlsbad, NM; Chris Ortega of Carlsbad, NM, and Keri Hinojos of Carlsbad, NM; sisters Terry Post and her husband Clayton; Bonnie Tompson and her fiancé Billy; Janine Potter and her husband, Richard; and Kimberly Heminger and her husband, Jason; and grandchildren: Jeremy, Railey, and Chelsea Duncan; Zoey McKelvey and Odella Dyer; Alicyn Reese, Roseleigh Reese and Elizabeth Navarrette; Adalae and Ta'Leah Perez; Abel, Noah, and Paisley Mobley; Jason and Erik Ortega; and Aiden and Sylvester. As well as countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
David is already missed tremendously, and will continue to be honored and cherished by his memories and love.
