David James Crawford

March 5, 1949 — December 18, 2025

David James Crawford entered the presence of Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on December 18, 2025. He was born on March 5, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri.

David married the love of his life, Sharon Marie Crawford, on March 21, 1970. Together they shared 51 wonderful years of marriage before Sharon preceded him in death on October 20, 2021. They raised four children and made their home in Artesia, New Mexico, where they lived together for the past twenty-one years.

Throughout his working life, David earned his living as a logger, machinist, and welder, jobs he took pride in and he created several businesses from. Outside of work, David found joy in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was rarely without a loyal dog by his side. Known for his captivating storytelling, David had a way of drawing people in with his words. He was considered a steadfast and loyal friend, by all who knew him. David lived by strong values. He believed in hard work and was committed to honesty, fairness, and ethical conduct. David was a committed provider for his family and will be remembered by those he loved with deep appreciation and affection.

David’s passing, though unexpected, was peaceful.

He is survived by his four children: Lisa Crawford, Michael Crawford, Tracy Crawford, and Anthony Crawford; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister and numerous extended family members, including beloved in-laws from Sharon’s family.

The family honored David’s wishes by not holding a public service. A private viewing and memorial were held on Monday, December 22, 2025. He wished his ashes to be returned to the ocean.
