Cleo Dickinson

March 26, 1921 — August 1, 2014

DICKINSON, CLEO GLENN Cleo Glenn Dickinson was born the younger of two daughters of D. A. and Lillie Mae Glenn on March 26, 1921 near Caprock, New Mexico about 15 miles west of Crossroads New Mexico. Matter of fact, she didnt have a birth certificate until she was in her midforties and wanted to get a passport. She had to get her father to go with her to the courthouse and apply.

Cleo always said they lived in a dugout. They lived on that ranch until Rena was 7 and Cleo was 6. The family moved to a farm North of Clovis and eventually to a house in town. She graduated from Clovis High School and a week later, married Gilbert Dickinson. That union lasted 58 years.

Cleo was a stay at home mom until her daughter Glenna needed a typewriter. Cleo then went to work at the Boy Scout Office where she eventually became the Office Manager. In 1977, she was honored as Roswells Business Woman of the year, was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and worked as a volunteer with the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center Auxiliary.

She enjoyed dancing, playing bridge and dominoes.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Gilbert J. Dickinson, her parents, D. A. and Lillie Mae Glenn and her daughter Glenna Jean Sheldon.
She is survived by her son Jim Dickinson and his wife Barbara of Alto, NM, sister Rena Kerr of Corona del Mar, CA and her son Lyndol Cook and wife Diana of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, Grandson Mark Sheldon and his wife Connie of Roswell, Granddaughter Leslie Sheldon of Manassas, VA, Grandsons Robert Dickinson of Phoenix, AZ, Michael Dickinson of Ranchos de Taos, NM and David Dickinson of Ruidoso, NM and six GreatGrandsons and one GreatGranddaughter.
