Claudia Perkis

June 14, 1957 — September 9, 2021

Claudia Faye Perkis, age 64, was born on June 14, 1957, in Durango, Colorado to Hugh and Leila Davies and joined her Heavenly Father September 9, 2021. Claudia had two children Billie Brooke and William Ronald with her first husband William Frank Abernathy. She married Richard Perkis on May 25, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas. Claudia had 5 siblings; Merlene, Larry, Richard, Ronald and Leanna. She is survived by her husband Richard and her children Billie Brooke Linthicum and her significant other Trent Benedick and children Branson, Brodie and Penelope; William Ronald Abernathy and his significant other Jessica Porras and children Hunter, Jayden, Saryla and Allana. Richard's children; Katrina Ray and children Charlie, Lane and Gage; Amber Perkis and her significant other Ben Medlin and children Luke, Zachary and Jackson; Christina Hassold and her husband Shawn and their child Cadence; and Nadene Perkis and her significant other Bryan Lopez.

Claudia was a devoted wife, mother, grammie, sister and aunt. Claudia's family meant more to her than anything. Claudia is remembered as the one that was always playing with the kids. All of the kids remember her for her homemade play dough, crafts and playing games with them. Her early years were spent working as a legal secretary for her brother-in-laws law practice. She worked during the day and ran the kids around to practices and games in the evening. Claudia rarely missed a game or an event. Brooke and Ronald's friends all referred to her as their "second mom". Claudia spent almost all of her free time with the kids and their friends running them around in the big yellow car and was considered the "cool mom".

Claudia was a self-taught jack of all trades. As her kids got older Claudia transitioned into the Medical Billing field. Claudia was self-educated and well known for her ability to research problems and ability to teach others how to do their job better. Claudia eventually opened her own successful Medical Billing Office. Claudia was sought after as the "expert" in Medical Billing and often had office managers and doctors calling her from all around for help.

Claudia loved her yard and growing flowers of all kinds. Her flower gardens were always so beautiful and she would spend hours taking caring for them. Claudia's gardening expertise also extended to her garden of family and friends. Claudia was a caretaker to so many. She always made sure that those around her were taken care of. Her friends and family knew that they could depend on her for help or support any way necessary. In fact, many of her adult years she had a family member or two living with her so that she could care for them. Even in her last few days she was checking on her family to make sure they were taken care of.

Claudia's kind spirit, spunkiness and fun personality will be missed by those that love her. Her legacy of love for others and ability to see the sunshine through the rain will be carried out by her kids and grandkids.

In lieu of flowers to honor her generosity and her brave battle against cancer, her family asks for donations to be made the Chaves County Cancer Fund by phoning 575-637-9550 or www.walkforhopechavescounty.com.
