Christopher (Chris) Shawn Young, 46, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 25th, 2018. Chris was born to Melvin L Young and Evon Gentry on June 28th, 1972 in Roswell, NM.
Chris was a man that touched us all in many different ways. His love of God, family, and others was the motivation in his life. His time was devoted to work and family, especially to his son when he was playing in sports. He never required acceptance but accepted others regardless of their background, race, or social standing. He always invited others to be involved and to voice their ideas, which sometimes caused conflict; more so in the family thus he became the "Peacemaker". Even though he had some hard struggles he still had compassion, a sense of humor, and thought about others before himself.
He was a long time member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was an example to his family and friends in being faithful in the LORD, and as HIS child; he is in Heaven with HIM.
Chris worked at the Roswell Daily Record for over 15 years. He did his best to print the newspapers in appearance and quality. He took pride in the work he produced and enjoyed working with others to accomplish that, especially with Ricky Tripp and Saralei Fajardo.
Chris is survived by his father, Melvin Young; mother, Evon Gentry Young; brothers Michael Scott Young and Brian K. Young; son Christopher Tyler Young; significant other Cinthia De Haro and granddaughter Amaya Young.
The family would also like to express their deepest appreciation to Nicole McWilliams and Saralei Fajardo in making sure Chris had the best care possible.
