STERRETT, CHARLES W.-  Charles W. Sterrett, retired farmer and rancher and life-long resident of Roswell, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the age of 91.

Charles was born in Carlsbad, NM on May 26, 1928 to W.D. and Bessie Lee Sterrett. Charles had a passion for agriculture, successfully owned and operated Sterrett Land and Cattle company at the family alfalfa farm in East Grand Plains.

Charles is survived by four children, Mark Sterrett and wife, Joni; Debbie Wood and husband, Earl; Scott Sterrett and wife, Diana; and Kristi LaBine. He was blessed with ten grandchildren, Corrie Beth Rivera, Clay Sterrett, Kathleen Turner Garcia, Leslie Cole, Kelly Wood Smith, Michael S. LaBine, Kayla Bennett, Josh LaBine, Jessica Hawrylak, and Daniel Sterrett. Also surviving, Charles are six great grandchildren, Grayson Cole, Griffin Cole, Ryder Smith, Isaiah Rivera, Travis Rivera, Cheyenne Grace Bennett, and numerous cousins.

Charles was a member of First United Methodist Church, EGP Lions Club, and Roswell Elks Club.  He enjoyed golfing, playing handball, watching football games, listening to Frank Sinatra, and spending time in Ruidoso. He loved his daily breakfast at the Cowboy Café where he was loved and respected by many.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, W.D. and Bessie Sterrett; sister, Louise Eakens; and wife, Christine Sterrett. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Charles name, to First United Methodist Church Youth fund, 200 N Pennsylvania Ave, Roswell, NM 88201.

The family will be holding a private graveside service.
