Billy Anderson

October 13, 1931 — September 3, 2020

Roswell

Billy E. Anderson, beloved husband and father, passed away September 3, 2020 at age 88. He was born October 13, 1931 in Foster, Oklahoma and lived most of his life in Roswell.

Billy served in the Air Force as a jet engine mechanic from 1951 to 1955 and was the top performer in his training classes. After his service in the Air Force, he returned to Roswell with the love of his life, Charlesie, whom he had married at Calvary Baptist Church in Roswell on July 8, 1952.

After honorable discharge from the Air Force, Billy joined the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. Over the years he had many different routes throughout Roswell. He became a supervisor and later was named the Regional Customer Services Representative of the Roswell office, with responsibility for all Post Offices in the southern half of New Mexico. He was extremely well respected by colleagues and all whom he served. Billy retired in January, 1987.

Billy loved traveling with Charlesie in their motor home and attending blue grass festivals. Their travels took them coast to coast and border to border. He enjoyed yardwork and proudly kept an immaculate lawn. He had a tremendous talent for everything mechanical and could fix anything. He was an artistic leatherworker, musician, an accomplished guitar player, and he enjoyed making music with Charlesie and their friends. Above all, Billy loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Charlesie Anderson; daughter Karen Kingzett (husband Pete) of Eugene, Oregon; son Bill Anderson (wife Vici) of Floresville, Texas; daughter Kathy Cook (husband Ed) of Roswell, New Mexico; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Billy will always be remembered by his family with a smile on his face, a song in his heart and a whistled tune on his lips.

He will be missed.
