Betty Woods

Betty Jane Woods, age 87, passed away quietly at home with loved ones around her on June 1, 2016 in Roswell, NM. Her love of the Lord and His Word sustained her through her life.

She was born and lived in West Virginia until the family moved to Grants, New Mexico, in 1959. She lived there most of her life until 2009 when she moved to Roswell, New Mexico, where she lived until her death. She was married to Chanta William (Junior) Woods until his death in 1971. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Lynn Hayton, who died in 2004 and a son, Brian Keith Woods, who died in 1962. She later married Ken Spitler and lived happily until his death in 2005. Betty had an unwavering faith in God and a very giving spirit with a great sense of humor. She always tried to help those in need. For many years she owned and managed Grandma's Café in Milan, NM. There were many needy people who came to the café who left there better than when they arrived as testimony to her giving spirit.

She is survived by her children: Audrey & Lee Loudermilk, Durham, North Carolina; Garland & Tresa Woods, Laramie, Wyoming: Kenny & Lois Woods, Grants, NM: C.W. & Alyssa Woods, Moriarity, NM; Trena Crowson & Rocky Chipps, Roswell, NM; Randy Woods & Joy Rouse, Roswell, NM; and Shawn White & Ron Stebler, Cave Creek, Arizona. She also has numerous loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her absence will create a great loss in her family.

There will be a memorial at a later date.
