Rebecca “Becky” Ann Marr
January 2, 1952 – September 30, 2026
Rebecca “Becky” Ann Marr, 74, of Roswell, New Mexico, passed away on September 30, 2026.
Becky was born Rebecca Ann McPherson on January 2, 1952, in Bakersfield, California, to Loretta Alveta McPherson and Vadis Ivan McPherson Sr. She moved to Roswell in 1967 and made it her home for most of the rest of her life, building a lifetime of friendships, memories, and connections along the way.
Independent, imaginative, determined, and resilient, Becky lived life very much on her own terms. Over the years, she pursued a variety of careers and interests, including working for Roswell bus manufacturer TMC. Her creative spirit also led her into business with her sister Dorie, with whom she operated a silk flower business. Flowers remained a constant presence in Becky’s life—she could rarely resist rearranging, fidgeting with, or putting her own touch on them.
Becky loved music, cooking, gardening, family traditions, and, most of all, spending time with the people she loved. She was caring, fiercely independent, and unfailingly candid—sometimes honest to a fault. She was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren and never hesitated to tell them, or anyone else, just how proud she was.
One song in particular captured something of Becky’s outlook on life: “Que Sera, Sera”—whatever will be, will be. She sang it often and, in many ways, lived by its simple message. Through life’s joys, challenges, changes, and losses, Becky carried on with determination and resilience, while never losing the creativity and individuality that made her unmistakably herself.
Becky is survived by her partner, Gary Lee Gibson; her children, John Alexander Stockard, Megan May Stockard, and Richard Wesley Marr II; her grandchildren, Julie Marie Fincher, Benjamin Kenneth Ruiz-Kilness, Jesse Alexander Marr, Judith Marie Marr, Vivien Ruth Stockard and John-Ivan Oliver Moss; and her older sister, Linda Loretta Dickinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Loretta Alveta McPherson and Vadis Ivan McPherson Sr.; her younger sister, Doris Yvonne Isler; her younger brother, Vadis Ivan McPherson Jr.; and her grandson, Chad Michael Reed II.
Becky’s life was filled with many chapters, many friendships, and a family she loved deeply. Those who knew her will remember her beauty, creativity, determination, honesty, and the pride she took in the people she loved. Her family will remember the music, the meals, the flowers, the traditions, and all the small things that made Becky, Becky.
Que sera, sera. Whatever will be, will be.
