Obituary

Ardist Allen February 23, 1942 – June 17, 2026 Roswell

Our loving father and grandfather, Ardist Allen, departed his family on Wednesday, June 17th at BeeHive Homes of Roswell in Roswell, New Mexico, where he was cared for with kindness and compassion.

Ardist was born in Hagerman, New Mexico on February 23rd, 1942, to Ned Allen and Inez (Wright) Allen. He graduated from Roswell High School in 1960 and married his sweetheart, Sylvia Allen on August 14th, 1965. They lived in love and laughter for 57 beautiful years.

Ardist served in the United States Army as a motor-pool sergeant and later worked as a journeyman sheet-metal worker for Hamilton Roofing. In 1967, he joined his father and brothers in founding Allen Roofing Company in Roswell, where he later served as president until his passing. Under his leadership, the company grew into a large regional contracting business, completing work throughout New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, and as far as Kansas. Ardist was a founding member of the New Mexico Roofing Contractors Association and the Midwest Roofing Contractors Association, serving as president of both. He also served on the Board of the National Roofing Contractors Association and was appointed by the Governor of New Mexico to the Board of the Construction Industries Division. Ardist was highly respected throughout the construction industry and known as a mentor to many. Allen Roofing continues today as a fourth-generation company owned and operated by Ardist’s son and grandsons.

Ardist loved the work he did, but more than anything, he loved the family he worked so hard for. His greatest joy in life was raising his children Cassie Banks and Cody Allen, and spending time with his four grandchildren.

Ardist was preceded in death by his parents, Ned Allen and Inez (Wright) Allen; his wife, Sylvia (Waide) Allen; and his brothers, Willard Allen (Nellie), Henry Allen (Connie), and Roy Allen (Jacque). Ardist is survived by his daughter, Cassie Banks (Tom); his son, Cody Allen (Stephannie); his granddaughters, Annie Lisak (Will) and Baylee Banks; his grandsons, Caleb Allen and Zachary Allen; his great-granddaughter, Zoe Lisak, born June 14, 2026; and his many loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial honoring Ardist’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in support of Parkinson’s disease research.
