Ambert (Andy) Olaus Olson Norton, born June 26, 1924 in Bowman, ND, passed away June 3, 2020, at Sunset Villa Care Center, Roswell, NM. He was the son of Thomas & Mary Olson. After his father's death, his mother married Harry Norton, who adopted the 3 Olson children.Following graduation from Archer, Iowa High School in 1943, he served in the Army Air Corps through WWII. In June 1948, he married Verla Nelson of Ruthven, IA & they had 2 children, Daniel and Roxana. After Andy’s graduation from Drake University in Des Moines, IA, they moved to Fairfield, IA, where he worked at Pickens Firestone. In 1953, they moved to Ottumwa, IA, where he opened Norton Insurance Agency & Real Estate, which he operated for 20 years. After selling the agency, he worked in financial & estate planning.During his years in Ottumwa he was active in many organizations & the First Lutheran Church. He enjoyed volunteer organizations, traveling, golf, dancing, swimming and horses.After moving from Ottumwa, he remained active in Toastmasters International leadership & continued ballroom dancing, Masonic Lodges, golfing and RVing. He resided and made many friends in Ottumwa & Ankeny, IA as well as Carlsbad & Roswell, NM.He is survived by his son, Daniel of Columbus, IN, & his daughter, Roxana of Ottumwa, IA, & 2 sisters, Peggy Poch & Ruthanne Briggs, both of Colorado Springs, CO, numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.He was predeceased by his parents, a stepfather, a sister, Verna Alexander, & wives: Verla (Ottumwa), Ruth (Ottumwa), Bessie (Des Moines), Joan (Ankeny), & Elva (Carlsbad).Inurnment will be at Ottumwa Cemetery. No service is planned at this time.Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
