COOPER, ALBERT "AL" O.- A memorial service for Albert "Al" O. Cooper, age 86, of Roswell, NM will be held at11:30 AM at Christ's Church, 2200 N. Sycamore Ave., Tuesday, December 18, 2018. Interment at South Park Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Chaves officiating. Al passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018 in Odessa, TX.

Al was born October 30, 1932 in Roswell, NM to Albert Cecil Cooper and Cleota Hamner.

Al graduated from Roswell High School in 1950. He married his high school sweetheart, Tommie Jean Didlake, and began his training in electrical engineering while serving in the US Navy during the Korean War. His electronics career began with Philco, a pioneer in television broadcasting, which afforded him an opportunity to be part of NBC's Wide Wide World, a 90-minute documentary series telecast live from 1955-1958 -- the first international North American telecast in the history of the medium. In 1961, Al went to work for GTE Lenkurt in Washington DC, transferring to San Carlos, Calif in 1972. In 1974, Al & Tommie purchased Roswell Brake & Alignment and moved their family back to the place of their births. In 1982, Al & Tommie started Prime Time Christian Broadcasting (aka God's Learning Channel), and in 1985 built the first full-power TV transmitter in southeast NM. Today, God's Learning channel encompasses 5 full-power stations in New Mexico and West Texas and is broadcast nationwide via the Galaxy 19 satellite. Al leaves a legacy of loving Jesus and connecting the church to their biblical roots. His love for Israel and the Jewish people is legendary.

Al is preceded in death by his father, Albert Cecil Cooper; mother, Cleota Hamner Gadbury; sister, Ruby Lois Cooper; half-brother, Jerry Cooper; step brothers, Eddie Randolph and Tommy Randolph; son-in-law, Robert Nesselrodt, Jr; and a very special sister-in-law, Joyce McKnight Cooper.

Al is survived by wife, Tommie Jean Didlake-Cooper; Daughter Suzan Nesselrodt of Roswell NM, her children: Robert (Trey) Nesselrodt III, Laura Irvin, John Nesselrodt & his wife Teresa; Daughter Kathy Jo Bicksler of Virginia and her children, Tommy Bicksler and Brooke Bicksler; son Jeff Cooper of Colorado, his children: Tasha Porter & husband John, Chrissy Cooper, and Daniel Cooper; son Jim Cooper of New Hampshire, his wife Wendy, & their daughters Meghan & Grace; daughter Amy Cooper of Odessa, TX; brother John A Cooper of Tinnie NM and his wife Mary; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and the greater GLC Family.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Cooper, James Cooper, Trey Nesselrodt, John Nesselrodt, Tommy Bicksler, and Daniel Cooper. Honorary pallbearers will be John A Cooper (Coop), Punk Cooper, Jud Cooper, Joe Cooper, Jimmy Cooper, Harold Holladay and Jim Gaylor.
